Visible AI in Your Marketing Might Be Costing You Customer Trust, Not Building It

What happened

A March 2026 survey of 8,000 consumers across the US, UK, and several other markets including Singapore found that when people notice AI-generated content in a brand's marketing, they're four times more likely to trust that brand less rather than more — 31% report reduced trust versus just 7% who report increased trust.

Our take

This is worth sitting with before leaning harder into AI-generated ad copy or visuals. AI is genuinely useful for drafting, testing, and speeding up production — but the moment a customer can tell it's AI without you saying so, a productivity tool becomes a trust problem. The businesses getting this right treat AI as a drafting partner reviewed by a real person, not a replacement for one — the same principle behind why every AI tool we build gets used by us first, on our own work, before it ever reaches a client.
